Kiefer Sutherland's lawyer has said that the actor was not to be held responsible for allegedly headbutting a fashion designer in a Manhattan nightclub.
The 42-year-old actor was charged with misdemeanour assault on May 7 for allegedly "attacking" Jack McCollough, who was left with a broken nose and required surgery.
Reports, at the time, suggested that the star confronted the designer after he had bumped into actress Brooke Shields.
However, Sutherland's attorney Michael C. Miller said in a statement that his client was not a wrongdoer.
"We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening," People magazine quoted Miller as saying.
"We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney''s Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident," he added.
Sutherland is due to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on June 22. (ANI)
