"The Nelson Mandela Foundation regrets the untimely passing of Michael Jackson. His loss will be felt by his fans worldwide," the statement read.
Jackson met Mandela in 1999 and made a donation to the Nelson Mandela Fund for Children.
Two years earlier, during his "HIStory" tour, he played a concert in South Africa's port city of Durban.

Michael Jackson dead at 50
LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" who once moonwalked above the music world, died Thursday as he prepared for a comeback bid to vanquish nightmare years of sexual scandal and financial calamity. He was 50.
Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.
"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said. Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.
At the time of his death, Jackson was rehearsing hard for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13.
As word of his death spread, MTV switched its programming to play videos from Jackson's heyday. Radio stations began playing marathons of his hits. Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital. In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.
"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend had sent him. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."
The public first knew him as a boy in the late 1960s, when he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the singing group he formed with his four older brothers out of Gary, Ind. Among their No. 1 hits were "I Want You Back," "ABC" and "I'll Be There."
He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his backward-gliding moonwalk, his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched singing, punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks, as was his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.
"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." "He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."
Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson's death immediately evoked comparisons to that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.
As years went by, Jackson became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter, his nose narrower, and he spoke in a breathy, girlish voice. He often wore a germ mask while traveling, kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions, and surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, a storybook playland filled with toys, rides and animals. The tabloids dubbed him "Wacko Jacko."
"It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It's as if he was trying to defy gravity," said Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who represented Jackson in the early 1990s. He called Jackson a "disciple of P.T. Barnum" and said the star appeared fragile at the time but was "much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew."
Jackson caused a furor in 2002 when he playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Berlin while a throng of fans watched from below.
In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him, and of engaging in strange and inappropriate behavior with other children.
The case followed years of rumors about Jackson and young boys. In a TV documentary, he acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.
Despite the acquittal, the lurid allegations that came out in court took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.
Michael Joseph Jackson was born Aug. 29, 1958, in Gary. He was 4 years old when he began singing with his brothers — Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito — in the Jackson 5. After his early success with bubblegum soul, he struck out on his own, generating innovative, explosive, unstoppable music.
The album "Thriller" alone mixed the dark, serpentine bass and drums and synthesizer approach of "Billie Jean," the grinding Eddie Van Halen solo on "Beat It," and the hiccups and falsettos on "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'."
The peak may have come in 1983, when Motown celebrated its 25th anniversary with an all-star televised concert and Jackson moonwalked off with the show, joining his brothers for a medley of old hits and then leaving them behind with a pointing, crouching, high-kicking, splay-footed, crotch-grabbing run through "Billie Jean."
The audience stood and roared. Jackson raised his fist.
By then he had cemented his place in pop culture. He got the plum Scarecrow role in the 1978 movie musical "The Wiz," a pop-R&B version of "The Wizard of Oz," that starred Diana Ross as Dorothy.
During production of a 1984 Pepsi commercial, Jackson's scalp sustains burns when an explosion sets his hair on fire.
He had strong follow-up albums with 1987's "Bad" and 1991's "Dangerous," but his career began to collapse in 1993 after he was accused of molesting a boy who often stayed at his home. The singer denied any wrongdoing, reached a settlement with the boy's family, reported to be $20 million, and criminal charges were never filed.
Jackson's expressed anger over the allegations on the 1995 album "HIStory," which sold more than 2.4 million copies, but by then, the popularity of Jackson's music was clearly waning, even as public fascination with his increasingly erratic behavior was growing.
Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley in 1994, and they divorced in 1996. Later that year, Jackson married Deborah Rowe, a former nurse for his dermatologist. They had two children together: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince Michael, now 12; and Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11. Rowe filed for divorce in 1999.
Jackson also had a third child, Prince Michael II. Now 7, Jackson said the boy nicknamed Blanket as a baby was his biological child born from a surrogate mother.
Cardiac arrest is an abnormal heart rhythm that stops the heart from pumping blood to the body. It can occur after a heart attack or be caused by other heart problems.
Billboard magazine editorial director Bill Werde said Jackson's star power was unmatched. "The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it," Werde said. "He's literally the king of pop."
Jackson's 13 No. 1 one hits on the Billboard charts put him behind only Presley, the Beatles and Mariah Carey, Werde said.
"He was on the eve of potentially redeeming his career a little bit," he said. "People might have started to think of him again in a different light."

Beyonce may face million-dollar lawsuit over pullout
New York, June 19 : R&B singer Beyonce Knowles is facing a million-dollar lawsuit after she suddenly pulled out of a performance at Manhattan club.
The 27-year-old singer had to perform at M2 nightclub as part of the launch of her "I Am . . . Sasha Fierce" North American tour.
The nightclub owner Joey Morrissey had agreed to pay the singer 200,000 dollars for the gig.
Morrissey said that Beyonce's representatives had even signed a contract that prompted him to spend 100,000 dollars to prepare for the show.
"They said they were too busy with the launching of the tour and that they wouldn''t have time to do the kickoff party," the New York Post quoted Morrissey as saying.
To make up for the cancellation, Morrissey says Beyoncé offered to stop by the club "to hang out for an hour" on Sunday.
He said, "I mean, we sold tables for thousands of dollars for the show, and spent 100,000 dollars renting a soundboard and other equipment, as per their stipulations. What good does her showing up for an hour do me? They''ve been totally unwilling to agree to another show."
Morrissey said that he''s now preparing to file suit against Beyonce, claiming his place has suffered a "loss of reputation" in addition to the sunk cash. (ANI)

Russell Crowe slams todays media
Melbourne, June 19 : Russell Crowe has slammed media for blurring the line between news and entertainment.
"If you trivialise the news decade after decade, if you turn news into entertainment, if you corrupt how people get information and corrupt that information in the first place and if you have a cynical view where you can take a piece of fluff that you know is not really true but you can bang it up because it fits nice on page 5 next to the ad of women's lingerie. If you start thinking like that, sooner or later people are going to distrust what those sources all are," the Courier mail quoted him as telling The Punch.
"We've actually built a generation who don't know how to discern bullshit from truth.
"At least I'm old enough and lucky enough to have grown up in an era where there were certain newspapers which were absolute purveyors of the truth, that has morphed and changed over time," he added.
Crowe is presently shooting for his new film Robin Hood in the U. K.

Carrie Prejean Stripped Of Miss California Title
LOS ANGELES, Carrie Prejean has been stripped of her Miss California title.
"The Miss California USA Organization, in conjunction with the Miss Universe Organization and with the blessing of its owner, Mr. Donald J. Trump, announced today the termination of Carrie Prejean as Miss California USA 2009, citing continued breach of contract issues," the Miss California Organization said in a statement to Access Hollywood.
The group kicked the controversial beauty queen from her post due to "contract violations including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," the pageant's Executive Director, Keith Lewis, said in a statement.
Last month, Trump decided that Prejean would be allowed to keep her crown despite racy photos of the 22-year-old surfacing on the Internet. But Lewis claims that in the weeks that followed, the beauty queen did not step up to the plate.
"Since that time it has become abundantly clear that Carrie is unwilling to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together," Lewis' statement continued.
Billy Bush broke the news to Prejean on Wednesday afternoon when he called her for Access Hollywood and "The Billy Bush Show."
"We've just found out from Keith Lewis, your executive director there, that it's official, they have put out a statement and you have been fired," Bush said.
"Well, that's the first that I know about that, Billy," Prejean said.
"Really?" he continued.
"Yeah. I was just talking to my lawyer and I just got a phone call from you and I've gotten some text messages saying 'Hey, is this really true?' and I said, 'True about what?' and they said, 'That you've been fired.' And I started to laugh because everyone's been cooperating and everyone's been getting along so well," she said. "This is the first that I've heard of it. This is funny to me. I have no idea what's going on."
Trump was also involved in Wednesday's dethroning, and leant his voice to her dismissal.
"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said his statement. "Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen and I offered Keith my full support in making this decision. Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues other interests."
Miss Malibu Tami Farrell, who was the First Runner-Up, is now Miss California.
In addition to the semi-nude photo scandal, Prejean's reign as Miss California also created headlines at the Miss USA pageant in April after she answered a question from Perez Hilton regarding her stance on gay marriage. She said she believed marriage "should be between a man and a woman."
Shanna Moakler quit the Miss California Organization, where she had served as a co-executive director back in May after Trump let Prejean keep her crown. When asked last month by Access Hollywood's Billy Bush if she would return to the group if Prejean quit, Moakler said she would.
"Absolutely," she said. "In a heartbeat.... It's not [a] 'her or me'[situation]. It's you... have to, at some point, make her take responsibility."
And on Wednesday, not long after the news broke, Moakler issued a statement to Access over Prejean's firing.
"First and foremost, my faith has been restored in the Miss Universe Organization and with Donald Trump. I believed eventually what I intimately knew would come to fruition," Moakler said.

Miley Cyrus & Justin Gaston Call It Quits
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Miley Cyrus has reportedly broken up with boyfriend Justin Gaston.
The 16-year-old pop star and the 20-year-old model had been dating for nearly nine months.
The "Hannah Montana" star reportedly called things off last week, as she was preparing to head to Georgia to film her new movie, "The Last Song."
"They have been having trouble for a while," the source told Us Weekly. "It's been hard for a long time since Miley has been working so much and traveling a lot."
However, distance may not have been the only factor behind the breakup.
Miley has recently been spending time with her ex, Nick Jonas, which a friend of Justin's said put some strain on the relationship.
"She obviously has been hanging out with Nick again a lot and Justin was cool with it at first - as long as it was just a cool friendly thing," a friend of Justin's told E! News. "She didn't cheat, but I guess Nick was trying to get her back the whole time."
Over the weekend, Miley hit up her Twitter page to Tweet about spending time with Nick.
"i'm in a dark theater 'writing' a song with nick j who is rockin a faded egg plant [sic] shirt!" she wrote.
In a new interview with teen magazine Twist, Nick confirmed a duet with his ex-girlfriend on the Jonas Brother's new song, "Before The Storm."
"There's two versions of the song basically, one that was written just for our record that we sang originally. And then I played it for Miley and we realized that if we just changed the lyrics a bit, we could make it more of our story, kind of share that side of us, and it could be great. So, we did," Nick told Twist. "She came in and she and I sat down at the piano and just worked on lyrics a bit, tweaked it up, and it turned out great!"
Since leaving for Georgia, Miley has posted several Tweets referencing the distance between herself and her loved ones.
"why does saying good-bye hurt so much?" she wrote on June 7. "I'm just to [sic] far from where you are, i wanna go home."

Michelle Obama and daughters make surprise visit to London
London, June 9 : U. S. First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise visit to London along with her two daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, eight, on Monday.
She was seen leaving the House of Commons in a motorcade during the unofficial visit.
At the time, she was pictured clutching a publication bearing a picture of Michael Martin, the former Speaker of the Commons who was forced to resign last month following his mishandled response to the MPs'' expenses scandal.
It still remains a mystery as to why Michelle was given the publication.
Michelle and her daughters stayed on in Paris for sightseeing on Sunday, while her husband Barack returned to the US following his tour of Europe.
According to the Telegraph, they believably flew into London by private jet early on Monday morning, before paying a brief visit to Westminster in the afternoon.
Michelle later visited The Audley pub in Mayfair, where regulars saw her disappear into an upstairs room before leaving with her daughters.
On Saturday, the U. S. First Family went sightseeing in Paris, visiting Notre Dame, the Pompidou Centre and a restaurant near the Eiffel Tower.
They were cheered by thousands of people, who had gathered there to welcome them. (ANI)

Mischa Barton enrages Hindus over sitar cribbing
Washington, June 9 : Actress Mischa Barton has enraged Hindus around the world, after she cribbed on her blog about not getting a sitar teacher in India.
The ex-O. C. star was recently in India for lensing `Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain', and was hoping to visit Hindu temples and learn to play the sitar in between filming.
However, when her efforts to find a music teacher failed, she complained to fans and friends on her MySpace. com page.
"I must say my goal coming here was to learn to play the sitar and it''s coming along real slow as apparently it''s not that easy to procure a great sitar teacher here. I guess it''s not (the) late 60s with Ravi Shankar and George Harrison roaming around," Contactmusic quoted her as saying in the post.
The 23-year-old actress' comments have enraged leading scholars, who insist that Barton is being immature if she thinks sitar teachers sit on street corners and advertise tutorials on streetlamps.
U. S. Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, said: "India has an abundance of great sitar players. If Mischa could not procure a great sitar teacher in India, the chances of finding the teacher outside India would be even slimmer. Her comment was a very immature statement. It mocks the rich musical heritage of India."
However, Hindus have also chosen to praise Barton for her interest in their culture.
Zed said: "I urge her to undertake a deeper study of Hinduism. If Mischa needs any assistance in her studies, I would be happy to assist." (ANI)

He appeared in more than 100 feature films and was nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award.
Carradine was born in Hollywood, California, the son of Ardanelle Abigail (née McCool; 1911-1989) and noted American actor John Carradine. He was the half-brother of Bruce, Keith and Robert Carradine, as well as the uncle of Ever Carradine and Martha Plimpton. Carradine had Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, German, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian and Cherokee ancestry. Carradine attended Oakland Junior College and later studied drama at San Francisco State College before working as an actor on stage and in television and cinema. He changed his given name to David after starting his career.
Early roles included a gunslinger in the film Taggart, a 1964 western based on a novel by Louis L'Amour. He starred on the Broadway stage in The Royal Hunt of the Sun and won a Theatre World Award for Best Debut Performance in 1965. Moving to TV, he played the title role in Shane, a 1966 series based upon the 1949 novel of the same name. In 1972, he starred as 'Big' Bill Shelly in Martin Scorsese's film Boxcar Bertha, costarring Barbara Hershey.
1970: Carradine starred as Kwai Chang Caine on the hit TV series Kung Fu (1972–1975). He earned critical praise as folksinger Woody Guthrie in Bound for Glory (1976). He played Abel Rosenberg in Ingmar Bergman's The Serpent's Egg (1977).
1980: In 1983, he narrated the PBS anthropology series "Faces of Culture". He appeared in a supporting role in North and South, a miniseries about the American Civil War with a large cast that included Patrick Swayze in a leading role. It was telecast in six parts in November 1985, and spawned two sequel miniseries. Carradine also appeared in North and South, Book II, telecast in six parts in May 1986.
1990: Early in the decade, he was a spokesperson for Lipton ("This ain't no sippin' tea") in a memorable TV ad where he paid homage not only to Kung Fu but also The Three Stooges. He returned to series TV in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1993–97) as the grandson of his original character. In 1999, he portrayed Tempus, a powerful demon with the ability to manipulate time, on the series Charmed.
2000: In 2001, he appeared in an episode of the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire (on which his brother Robert was a regular performer). Also in 2001, he provided the voice for Lo Pei, the ancient warrior responsible for Shendu's petrification on the animated series Jackie Chan Adventures. In 2002, Carradine voiced a character on King of the Hill in the episode Returning Japanese, portraying Hank's Japanese half-brother. In 2003, he appeared as Conrad on the series Alias.
In 2003, he produced and starred in several instructional videos on the martial arts of Tai chi and Qi Gong. These made him a natural as the title character in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films, Vol. 1 (2003) and Vol. 2 (2004).
In 2005, he took over hosting duties from his brother Keith on Wild West Tech on the History Channel. On two episodes of the animated series Danny Phantom (2005-2006), he provided the voice for "Clockwork", a supernatural being with the power to control time (similar to his 1999 role on Charmed). In 2006, he became the spokesman for Yellowbook, a publisher of independent telephone directories in the United States.
Carradine also appeared in the music video for "Minus You" by the Southern California band Chapel of Thieves, which was co-directed by YouTube personality Boh3m3. He also worked with the Jonas Brothers in their video Burnin' Up, playing a Kung Fu master, and planned to work with Miley Cyrus. In 2009, he played a 100-year-old Chinese gangster in Crank: High Voltage.
Carradine had a son, Free (b. 1972; name since changed to Tom) with Barbara Hershey, his domestic partner from 1972 to 1975.
Carradine was married five times. He had a daughter Calista (b. 1962) by first wife Donna, and a daughter Kansas (b. 1978) by second wife Linda. He had three other daughters—Amanda, Madeline and Olivia—and another son, Max.
Each of Carradine's first four marriages ended in divorce. On December 26, 2004, he married Annie at the seaside Malibu home of his friend, Michael Madsen. Vicki Roberts, his attorney and longtime friend of his wife, performed the ceremony.
Death: On June 4, 2009, Carradine was found dead in his room at the Swissôtel Nai Lert Park Hotel on Wireless Road, near Sukhumvit, in central Bangkok, Thailand. A police official said Carradine was found hanging by a rope in the room's closet, and the Bangkok Post reported that his body was found curled up in the wardrobe with a shoelace tied around his genitals and neck. Also, the same officer said: "Under these circumstances we cannot be sure that he committed suicide but he may have died from masturbation."
Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunand, a Thai forensic pathologist and Director of Central Institute of Forensic Science, stated the incident met four of the criteria for accidental death involving autoerotic asphyxiation. Police Lieutenant General Worapong Chewprecha, Commander of the Metropolitan Police, remarked that the closed circuit television installed within the hotel supported the theory that no other persons were involved with the death. Carradine's representative and family members told the press that they believed the death to be accidental and not a suicide. However it has also been reported that Carradine was found "with his hands tied behind his back." Chuck Binder, Carradine's manager, indicated neither suicide nor accident was the likely cause since "the family has been told Carradine's hands were immobilized (behind his back) by the rope."
Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot his latest movie, Stretch, and had been known to join the film crew for dinner. The crew noticed his absence when going out to dinner on June 3, but assumed he was simply taking the night off.

David Carradine Autopsy News
David Carradine's family wants Dr. Michael Baden, the famed forensics expert from HBO's docu-series 'Autopsy,' to conduct a private autopsy on the late actor, says the Associated Press.
Mark Geragos, a lawyer for Carradine's brother Keith, tells the AP that the family aims to enlist Baden in hopes of finding out if another individual could have had something to do with the 'Kill Bill' and "Kung Fu" star's death.
"It's an amazing thing what a good pathologist can accomplish," Geragos says.
Baden's HBO specials document some of the 20,000-plus autopsies he's conducted. Additionally, the AP says he performed an autopsy on accused murderer Drew Peterson's third wife and acted as a defense witness during Phil Spector's first murder trial.
Baden is also the chief forensic pathologist for the New York State Police.
The results of Carradine's first autopsy, conducted Friday in Bankok, are expected in three weeks or longer, says the AP. As details emerge, it appears the 72-year-old might have died from accidental suffocation.
David-Carradine kin hires expert to examine actor's body
The family of David Carradine is asking the FBI and a private forensics expert to help investigate the "Kung Fu" actor's death, attorney Mark Geragos said Saturday, the same day Thai police said surveillance footage indicated no one had entered his hotel room before he died.
Carradine's brother Keith met Friday with the FBI and filed reports that could lead to the agency opening its own inquiry, said Geragos, who represents Keith Carradine. The family will also seek a private autopsy by famed forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden to determine whether another person could have been involved, Geragos said.
The actor's family hopes the body will arrive in Los Angeles by Monday, Geragos said, but he did not give specifics.
Geragos said the family intervened because of conflicting information about Carradine's death and a lack of direct information from Thai authorities.
"All we really know is not much more than what the public knows, and that's disturbing," Geragos said.
FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller on Saturday confirmed that Carradine's family had contacted the agency. Agents were checking with the FBI's legal attache at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok to see if Thai authorities "are requesting or would welcome FBI assistance in this matter." She said the FBI generally only gets involved in death investigations overseas if a crime is suspected.
David Carradine's body was discovered Thursday morning in his luxury suite by a chambermaid at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel, said its general manager, Aurelio Giraudo. Carradine's family, friends and representatives have said they doubt the 72-year-old actor would have killed himself.
Police initially said Carradine's body was found "naked, hanging in a closet," causing them to suspect he had taken his own life. On Friday, however, police said the actor may have died from accidental suffocation or heart failure after revealing that he was found with a rope tied around his wrist, neck and genitals — leading to speculation that Carradine may have engaged in a dangerous form of sex play known as auto-erotic asphyxiation.
The results of an autopsy performed Friday in Bangkok were not expected for at least three weeks, said Dr. Nanthana Sirisap, director of Chulalongkorn Hospital's Autopsy Center. Nanthana said that was normal considering the unusual circumstances of the death.
Col. Somprasong Yenthuam, who is heading the investigation, said police have interviewed all staff at the hotel where Carradine was staying and reviewed surveillance footage outside his room. Based on that, they have found no evidence that anyone was in Carradine's room before he died which they said all but ruled out foul play.
The investigation continued Saturday, with police interviewing the crew of the film that Carradine was shooting in Bangkok.
Baden is a celebrity among forensic pathologists, appearing on a series of HBO specials highlighting some of the more than 20,000 autopsies he has performed. He frequently consults on high-profile cases, including conducting an autopsy on Drew Peterson's third wife and as a defense witness for Phil Spector during his first murder trial.
Baden is the chief forensic pathologist for the New York State Police and Geragos said he expects Baden's examination will clear up many unanswered questions.
"It's an amazing thing what a good pathologist can accomplish," Geragos said.
Carradine flew to Thailand last week and began work on a film titled "Stretch" two days before his death. His friends and associates told CNN's Larry King he had a happy marriage, recently bought a new car, and had several films lined up after he finished work in Bangkok.
Carradine, a martial arts practitioner himself, was best known for the U.S. TV series "Kung Fu," which aired from 1972-75. He played Kwai Chang Caine, an orphan who was raised by Shaolin monks and fled China for the American West after killing the emperor's nephew in retaliation for the murder of his kung fu master.
Carradine also appeared in more than 100 feature films with such directors as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby. He returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino's two-part saga "Kill Bill."
David Carradine's family wants FBI to investigate death
The family of American actor David Carradine has asked the FBI to help investigate his death after his body was found in a hotel closet in Thailand's capital with a rope tied to his neck, wrist and genitals.
Hotel surveillance footage indicated no one entered Carradine's room before he died, the policeman leading the death investigation said Saturday.
Carradine's body was reportedly flown out of Bangkok in the morning, bound for Los Angeles.
His family does not believe he committed suicide and is troubled by conflicting accounts about the circumstances of his death, Mark Geragos, an attorney for brother Keith Carradine, told CNN's Larry King late Friday.
"They want an investigation," Geragos said. "I would think that the people in Bangkok would want to support an investigation and allow the FBI to go over there and assist in the investigation so we can get the answers to the questions."
Thai police said Saturday they have not been contacted by the FBI.
Police initially said Carradine's body was found "naked, hanging in a closet," causing them to suspect he committed suicide, though no suicide note was found.
On Friday, however, police said the actor may have died from accidental suffocation or heart failure after revealing that he was found with a rope tied around his neck and penis — leading to speculation that Carradine may have engaged in a dangerous form of sex play known as auto-erotic asphyxiation.

The investigation continued Saturday, with police interviewing the crew of the film that Carradine was shooting in Bangkok.
Carradine's body was flown out of Bangkok early Saturday on a United Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles via Tokyo, according to local media and an airport official, who refused to be identified because she was not authorized to speak to the media. The U.S. Embassy would not confirm those details.
Pornthip Rojanasunand, director of Thailand's Central Institute of Forensic Science, said the circumstances under which Carradine died suggest the 72-year-old actor may have been performing auto-erotic asphyxiation. The practice involves temporarily cutting off the supply of oxygen to the brain to heighten the effects of a sexual climax.
"In some cases it can suggest murder, too. But sometimes when the victim is naked and in bondage, it can suggest that the victim is doing it to himself," said Pornthip, considered the country's top criminal forensics expert. She did not take part in the autopsy.
"If you hang yourself by the neck, you don't need so much pressure to kill yourself," she said. "Those who get highly sexually aroused tend to forget this fact."

Carradine also appeared in more than 100 feature films with such directors as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby.
He returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino's two-part saga "Kill Bill." Bill, the worldly father figure of a pack of crack assassins, was a shadowy presence in 2003's "Kill Bill — Vol. 1." In that film, one of Bill's former assassins (Uma Thurman) begins a vengeful rampage against her old associates, including Bill.
David Carradine's Family Calls for FBI Investigation
Two individuals close to the Carradine family told Larry King on Friday night that the family has sought the FBI's help in investigating the late actor's death in Bangkok, Thailand, and there are plans for a second autopsy. Read on for all the new details.
Mark Geragos, an attorney for David's actor brother Keith Carradine, told King that the Carradine family met with the FBI on Friday, in hopes that the agency can compel Thai officials to launch an investigation in Bangkok soon.
The Carradines want the FBI to be involved "at least in an assisting role, so that they can kind of oversee what's going on," Geragos said. He added that the FBI has to go through a series of legal channels and hurdles to get involved, but they "can be invited over there immediately. And I call on the people in Bangkok to invite them in."
Geragos said that Carradine's body is being brought back to the U.S. this weekend for a second autopsy, which he said could help shed light on whether foul play was involved in the "Kung Fu" star's death.
"I think there had to be foul play," Carradine's manager Chuck Binder added. "I mean my gut instinct is something definitely happened there."
When another King panel member mentioned that Carradine was reportedly interested in secret societies, Geragos said this reported interest was "connected to martial arts and [Carradine's] interest in martial arts. And so there is a suspicion that if there was some foul play, that that may be the first area where [investigators] should look."
Geragos and Binder both reiterated that the Carradine family doesn't believe that the 72-year-old was suicidal. Geragos said Carradine had spoken with his brother Keith within the last two weeks and seemed "not at all" depressed and was "very excited" at the prospect of returning home from shooting a movie in Thailand.
On Saturday, the police officer heading the death investigation told the Associated Press that hotel surveillance footage apparently showed that nobody came into Carradine's room before he passed away. A police source told the AP that Carradine was found on Thursday hanged in his hotel room closet with a rope tied to his neck and genitals.

Carradine's body was discovered Thursday morning in his luxury suite by a chambermaid at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel, said its general manager, Aurelio Giraudo.
Carradine flew to Thailand last week and began work on a film titled "Stretch" two days before his death. His friends and associates insisted he would not have killed himself, telling CNN's King he had a happy marriage, recently bought a new car, and had several films lined up after he finished work in Bangkok.
Carradine, a martial arts practitioner himself, was best known for the U.S. TV series "Kung Fu," which aired from 1972-75. He played Kwai Chang Caine, an orphan who was raised by Shaolin monks and fled China after killing the emperor's nephew in retaliation for the murder of his kung fu master.

Megan Fox mantra of dealing with casting couch directors, flirty co-stars
London, June 6 : Actress Megan Fox has blasted casting couch directors, who, she insists, have tried to sleep with her since she became famous.
The Transformers star, who was voted World''s Sexiest Woman by FHM magazine, said many leading filmmakers had tried their luck with her during interviews but the
23-year-old has her own way of dealing with them.
"Any casting couch s**t I''ve experienced has been since I''ve become famous. It''s really so heartbreaking. Some of these people! Like Hollywood legends," the Daily Express quoted her as telling Britain's GQ magazine.
"You think you''re going to meet them and you''re so excited, like, ''I can''t believe this person wants to have a conversation with me,'' and you get there and you realise that''s not what they want, at all. It''s happened a lot this year actually," she added.
Fox further said her male co-stars were no less but a blow to their ego settled them for good.
She explained: "There are some guys, talking about actors who have been in the business for a while, who are very egocentric and have been able to sleep with a lot of girls for whatever reason, and because they don''t know me they think I''m going to be this little cupcake, this Marilyn Monroe type who''s going to bat my eyes and be like a receptacle for them.
"I just shut them down immediately, right in front of people. It''s been so long since someone has told them no, they don''t really know how to deal with it. Because of this non-reality they live in, they''re f**ked up, psychologically." (ANI)

Jennifer Ellison Biography
Jennifer Lesley Ellison (born 30 May 1983) is an English actress, glamour model, television personality, dancer and singer. Ellison, who was born in Liverpool, is perhaps best known for playing Emily Shadwick in the television soap opera Brookside until 2003 and has recently made appearances in many different television shows, and as Meg Giry in the 2004 film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera. She is a former girlfriend of Steven Gerrard, the Liverpool and England footballer.
Biography
Ellison is currently featured in my dreams Maxim magazine's Girls of Maxim gallery. She has appeared regularly in almost all of the mainstream British "lads' magazines" over the last eight years, though her first appearance was in 1999 in a sexually suggestive shoot for FHM at the age of just 16, under the heading "Jailbait". Recently, Ellison took over a contract with lingerie giant Ultimo for its "Young Attitude" line from fellow model Jordan barely two months after she had been signed on. Though Ultimo boss Michelle More had chosen Jordan for being "sexy, fun and outgoing," she later changed her mind, stating, "Jordan was just the wrong choice for us. Jennifer is a far better option and far classier." In 2005 Ellison was voted "world's sexiest blonde" by readers of the UK magazine Nuts, beating model Victoria Silvstedt, who came second, and pop superstar Britney Spears, who was voted third. Ellison is also a regular in the yearly FHM "100 Sexiest Women in the World" feature. She first appeared in 2003 at number 60; then at number 29 in 2004; by 2005 she was at number 17; in 2006 she was number 31; in 2007, she fell to number 87; and in 2008 she did not feature. Her drop down the list over the last two years is largely attributable to her taking a break from modeling from late 2006 to early 2008. However, she has since returned to modeling.
Ellison studied dance from the age of three, first at a dance school in Liverpool, then later at the Elizabeth Hill School of Dancing in St. Helens, Merseyside. She has achieved examination passes with the Royal Academy of Dance and the International Dance Teachers Association. In 1996 and 1997, she won titles at the IDTA Theatre Dance Championships, for Ballet and Modern Dance. Choosing to pursue a professional career in dance, she successfully auditioned for the Royal Ballet Lower School, but left after two years and became an actress instead.
In 2006, Ellison released Jennifer Ellison's West End Workout, a fitness DVD which combined her love of dance with exercise routines.
In 2007 Ellison was a judge in the British reality TV competition Dirty Dancing: The Time of Your Life.
Ellison had a run in the London West End theatre version of the musical Chicago in 2004 at the Adelphi Theatre, and returned from 10 July to 9 August 2006 again playing the leading role of "Roxie Hart", this time at the Cambridge Theatre. Ellison was actually supposed to finish on 12 August, but was forced to pull out three days early due to a knee injury. Ellison subsequently toured England in Chicago from 25 September 2006 until 5 May 2007, appearing in Birmingham, Manchester, Sunderland (she switched on the Christmas lights there), Nottingham, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool.
On 1 October 2007, Ellison joined the cast of a revival of Boeing Boeing at the Comedy Theatre, London, playing the part of Gloria, an American TWA air stewardess.
On 5 December 2007, she featured in a 10th Anniversary Gala performance of Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre alongside a galaxy of stars and on 16 December 2007, she played "Angel" in Liverpool Nativity, a contemporary retelling of the Christmas story for BBC Three which was performed live from the streets of the City.
Ellison will feature in the Liverpool Empire Theatre's Christmas Pantomime Cinderella for 2008 opposite Cilla Black and Les Dennis.
She will also play Beth in Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds at the major arenas of the UK in June 2009.
Ellison made her international movie debut as Meg Giry in the 2004 film version of The Phantom of the Opera. In spite of this being her debut in a Hollywood movie, Ellison has yet to make another American film. She also starred in the British horror movie The Cottage, which was released in the UK on 14 March, 2008.
It was announced in early 2009 that Jennifer has been cast in the Barbara Windsor type role in the upcoming Carry On relaunch Carry On Bananas. Filming is due to start later in 2009.
Ellison has also flirted with a pop rock career. Her first single was "Baby I Don't Care", released in June 2003, which reached number six in the charts. The song was originally released by Transvision Vamp in 1989. The following year in July, after being brought back into the public eye after winning Hell's Kitchen, Ellison released her second single, "Bye Bye Boy", which reached number 13 in the UK charts.
In 2003, Ellison appeared in the travel documentary Jennifer Ellison does Thailand and in 2004 she appeared on the reality television show Hell's Kitchen, which she then went on to win. In 2005, she appeared on the celebrity challenge show With a Little Help From My Friends for ITV.

In September 2008 she appeared in a 2 hour long show, called Ghosthunting with Paul O'Grady & Friends, filmed in Sicily, with fellow Liverpudlians Paul O'Grady, Philip Olivier and Natasha Hamilton.

MTV Movie Awards has 'WTF' moment: Half-naked Sacha Baron Cohen surprises Eminem
The vampires of "Twilight" swept the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night, but the promised "WTF" moment came when a half-naked Sacha Baron Cohen forced a flustered Eminem to make an early exit.
The rapper and the comic went cheek to cheek when the nearly bare-bottomed Cohen, in character as gay fashionista Bruno, swooped into Eminem's face.
"Get this m-----f----r off of me!" Eminem snapped as Cohen - sporting feathery white angel wings and a matching jockstrap - plunged from the ceiling onto the unsuspecting rapper, who was seated after performing.
Eminem's entourage yanked Cohen off their boss before the platinum-selling rapper bolted the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, Calif.
MTV censors managed to bleep Eminem's outburst from the live show.
"That was really weird," said "High School Musical 3" star Zac Efron, who was supposed to receive a best male performance award from Cohen.
The bizarre exchange launched a ton of Twitters as people pondered whether the crash landing was a setup - although one witness said the real Slim Shady was really steamed.
"He was pretty mad," said Carla Gentry Osorio, a Harlem hair stylist seated near the exit where Eminem stormed out. "He practically walked into a camera. He couldn't leave fast enough."
Once the dust settled, the night's big winners were the bloodsucking crew from "Twilight," which grabbed five awards. The flick took MTV's buckets of golden popcorn for best movie, best fight (Robert Pattinson and co-star Cam Gigandet) and best kiss (Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart).
"I have to say thank you to my stunt double," said Pattinson, giving credit where credit was due for the fight award.
Pattinson also won for breakthrough male performance, eliciting shrieks of delight from his female fans. And Stewart won for best female performance.
Amy Poehler won the first official MTV Movie Awards "WTF" prize for her peeing-in-the-sink scene from "Baby Mama."
